Come one, come all and try your best to keep your pants on: it’s SPOKEN WEIRD, Halifax’s astonishing new spoken word night!

Located at The Sportsman – a notorious live venue – Spoken Weird is an opportunity for you to check out some of the north’s finest up-and-coming spoken word artists, and to throw your own hat into the ring by taking part in our OPEN MIC – poetry, rapping, short stories, visceral rants, lists of stuff you’d do if you got drunk and stole a time machine, it’s all good!

Entry is ABSOLUTELY FREE. The event starts at 7.30 and ends at 10, and it's at The Sportsman, Crown St, Halifax, HX11JB. 20 minute walk from the train station, 5-10 minutes from the bus station.

The show will feature sets from punk poet Cayn White, storm-raising Midnight Shelley and the thought-provoking Hot Contents. But the REAL stars of the show will be our open-mic-ers.

Hope to see you there. Any questions? Forward them to Genevieve Walsh on 07738 484155 or genlilywalsh@btinternet.com (questions regarding the night would be preferable, I really don't know how to bleed radiators).

Entry: Free

Time: 7.30

In Axilfah on Thundersday we heard a sonic boom.
The rain came down but words held sway within a tight packed room.
They came from Leeds and Lancashire, from Cleckheaton and Hudd.
They raised their arms and voices too and spoke of death and blood.
And local wordsmiths said their piece. What rants and hymns we heard
when Genevieve her coven called to utter Weird Words.
