Join us at the launch of The Son of a Shoemaker, Linda Black’s exhibition of drawings and prints draws on her new book, The Son of a Shoemaker (Hearing Eye, 2012). The sequence of eighteen prose poems based on the early life of Hans Christian Andersen, are illustrated by the author.

The poems, collaged from a fictionalised biography of Andersen, The Shoemaker’s Son, by Constance Buel Burnett (George G Harrap & Co, 1943), are given a fanciful twist in Black’s entertaining images. The exhibition also includes other illustrations and etchings.

The special launch event includes a reading and a musical performance.
