Reading with R. V. Bailey, Roz Kaveney and Peter Daniels

R. V. Bailey was born in Northumberland and has worked as a cafeteria assistant, librarian, information officer, teacher, counsellor, and latterly as director of undergraduate courses in Humanities at the University of the West of England, Bristol. She is the other voice in poetry recordings by U. A. Fanthorpe (Awkward Subject, Double Act, Poetry Quartets 5), and has had several collections published, including Course Work (Culverhay Press, 1997), Marking Time (Peterloo, 2004), The Losing Game (Mariscat Press, 2010) and Credentials (Overstep Books, 2012), as well as From me to you : love poems (Enitharmon; Peterloo Poets, 2007) with her late partner, U. A. Fanthorpe.

Roz Kaveney is a writer, critic, and activist. A regular contributor to The Independent, The Guardian and the Times Literary Supplement, she is the author of many books on popular culture, including Reading the Vampire Slayer, Teen Dreams: Reading Teen Film and Television from 'Heathers' to 'Veronica Mars', Superheroes! Capes and Crusaders in Comics and Films, and From Alien to the Matrix: Reading Science Fiction Film.
She was a co-founder of the Midnight Rose Collective, whose other members included Neil Gaiman, Alex Stewart, and Mary Gentle, which produced shared world anthologies including Temps, Villains!, and The Weerde. She has also edited Tales from the 'Forbidden Planet' and More Tales from the 'Forbidden Planet'. She recently published her first novel, Rituals.



Peter Daniels won first prize in the TLS Poetry Competition, with 'The Pump' in 2010 and won the 2008 Arvon competition. Earlier, he twice won the Poetry Business pamphlet competition (1991 and 1999), was listings editor of Poetry London, and edited a book of gay men's poetry and an AIDS anthology for Oscars Press. His miniature pamphlet Work & Food appeared in 2010 from Mulfran Press, who published his first full collection in 2012. As well as his own poems he is working on translations from the Russian of Vladislav Khodasevich. His book Counting Eggs appeared from Mulfran Press at the end of April 2012. It?s Peter's first collection, but also 'new and selected', as it contains 55 poems from the last twenty years or more. Peter lives in Stoke Newington, London, and works as a freelance editor.
