Manchester's experimental poetry series continues with performances by Peter Jaeger, Helmut Lemke and Ira Lightman. Please note that this is both a different day from usual and also a new venue. Biographical details can be found below and previews will appear on http://otherroom.org over the next month. There will, as usual, be a stall stocked with a range of publications and entry, as always, is free.

Peter Jaeger’s published work includes the books Power Lawn (Coach House Books 1999), ABC of Reading TRG: Steve McCaffery, bpNichol, and the Toronto Research Group (Talonbooks 2000), Prop (Salt 2007),Rapid Eye Movement (Reality Street 2009), and The Persons (Information as Material 2011). He recently co-edited an issue of Open Letter: A Canadian Journal of Writing and Theory entitled “Negotiating the Social Bond of Poetics,” and he is currently writing a book on John Cage, which is set to be published by Continuum Press next year.


Ira Lightman is a conceptual poet, making public art with text throughout England, often working with communities, and also makes conceptual pieces for BBC Radio 3′s The Verb. He comes up with unusual forms and concepts, as open to anyone else’s use as his, often acting as curator and editor; to mediate poetry and text art, as much as write it. Recent publications includeMustard Tart as Lemon (Red Squirrel 2011), Phone in the Roll(Knives, Forks and Spoons Press, 2011) and Duetcetera(Shearsman 2008).

Since he started working with sound more than 30 years ago, Helmut Lemke has performed and exhibited process based work responding to his investigations. His endeavour has taken him to concert halls and outdoor markets,to Galleries and Museums and to the frozen seas off Greenland, to Function Rooms of Pubs and to International Festivals. He has presented his work all over the globe, collaborating with other Sound Artists and Musicians, with Dancers and Scientists, Visual Artists and Architects, Poets and Archaeologists, Performance Artists and Wildlife Rangers.
