Join us in the Poetry Society's Poetry Cafe for the
launch reading of Pam Zinnemman-Hope’s extraordinary first poetry collection On Cigarette Papers.

The poems will be performed by Pam along with the celebrated actors Anthony Shuster (War Horse) and Deborah Findlay (Cranford, The Glass Menagerie and others). It’s a collection in voices, bringing to life a remarkable and extremely moving story.

The poems tell of the experiences of Pam’s mother and father, who met in Hitler’s Germany and had to escape, surviving imprisonment in Russia before arriving in England. There was further incarceration on the Isle of Man before they could find peace. The poems are often taken from letters, notes written in prison, and the testimony of friends.

This is not just a story that brings to life one of the worst periods of recent history, but it’s also an extraordinary love story about a woman prepared to face the consequences of her wish to marry a Jewish man while Hitler took power and Stalin’s purges were at their worst.

After the performance there will be time for Q & A and to socialise in the lovely Poetry Café. The nearest tube station is Covent Garden (Piccadilly line) or Leicester Square (Northern Line)
