Apples and Snakes presents
Hit the Ode

The best poetry from the region, the country and the world at the heart of Birmingham.

Hit the Ode: an electrifying night of spoken word poetry by the best performers from around the corner - and around the world. Each Hit the Ode features one act from the Midlands, one from elsewhere in the UK, and, uniquely, one international guest. Expect an eclectic and carefully selected mix of performers and a boisterous but discerning audience.

Featuring:

From Leicester, John Berkavitch: artist, vandal, poet,
writer, b-boy, rapper, comic, conceptual thinker, collaborator,
human-beatbox and surrealist.

From Norwich, Molly Naylor: described by the Independent
as ‘urgent, edgy, the poetry of young urban Britain’; Molly’s
poems mix the humorous and the moving.

From Brazil, Luanda Casella: Brazilian spoken-word and
theatre artist; her solo performances combine words with
spontaneously created soundscapes.

A very few highly coveted open mic slots are also available.
