Poetry Connections is a coming-together of European and Indian poets who met in 2010 in South India and who are now bringing their innovative performance to Manchester, showing what happens when the poetic cultures encounter each other through translation and performance .

UK poets W.N. Herbert and Zoe Skoulding welcome Bengali poet Sampurna Chattarji, the radical and outspoken Tamil activist-poet Meena Kandasamy, poet and editor Robin Ngangom from the very north east corner of India and Swiss German-language poet and rapper Raphael Urweider. They are joined by the legendary Kerala poet K. Satchidanandan, one of the stars of Malayalam poetry, who will read in the first part of this exciting poetry double bill.

This event is produced by Literature Across Frontiers and the German Book Office New Delhi, with support from the British Council, Pro Helvatia and the Culture Programme of the European Commission. You can watch a short film of the Poetry Connections encounter in India
