This month we have poets from Teesside and Tyneside. From Teesside we have Bob Beagrie who will be reading from his fifth collection of poems, 'Glass Characters' published by Red Squirrel Press. Beagrie is an exciting and prolific poet whose words glow like the licking flames of Wilton’s iconic vent-stacks - he is a beacon in the Cleveland half-light. Linda MaceMichalik, a poet with a long name and an even longer history of gnawing on life will also be appearing, as will Morbid the Poet, editor of The Black Light Engine Room magazine, host of the performance night of the same name and author of River Songs, joined by exciting spoken word newcomer Chris Stewart.

From Tyneside we have Scott Tyrrell, one of the North East’s favourite performance poets. Scott lives and works in Newcastle upon Tyne and has been writing and performing poetry and comedy since 2000. His targets range from popular culture to pointless technology to trying not to shout at stupid people to the perils of parenthood. All delivered with the healthy irreverence and world-weary sulk of someone who’s spent way too much time in queues. Multiple slam winner, he was one of the legendary Poetry Vandals, alongside Jeff Price who is also appearing tonight. Jeff Price is the grand-daddy of spoken word, the original Saga lager lout and the founder of spoken word at the Cumberland Arms.
We also have Catherine Graham, a Northern Voices Poetry Award winner. Her work has appeared in magazines and anthologies in the UK and Ireland. Her chapbook Signs is published by ID on Tyne Press. Catherine has just returned from the Liverpool International Weekend of poetry where she read alongside poets from the UK, USA, Israel and New Zealand. We are delighted to welcome Mandy Maxwell, originally from Glasgow, who has become a favourite on the North East spoken word circuit.

Music will be provided by Lulu James - beauty, character, charisma, soul and innocence all in one perfect package with a voice that charms the heart and infects the spirit. Singer/songwriter and acoustic guitarist Neil Dorney will be bringing us some of his own mellow sounds.

Price: £3.50
