Glad to see someone’s already put up some comments about last night’s Poetry Jam in Richmond. Mention must also be made of guest poet Richard Purnell, who I understand hosts the Bus Driver’s Prayer in Hackney, as well as commuting into work in London on the X68 from Norwood, which he featured in a excellent poem which was both funny and touching. He gets his poetic kicks on the X68. Fair enough. One friendly member of the audience said to me that the atmosphere reminded her of Brighton. I don’t know whether she meant Richmond or the Tea Box itself, where I was offered seven varieties of green tea alone, and had to be guided by the waitress. For me the Tea Box is refined rather than raucous, and maybe could do with a bit more noise from the audience. But thanks very much to excellent compere/MC Anna Le – fellow MC Amy Acre was away at the Latitude festival - for making David Andrew and myself feel at home on one of our forays in search of some open mic action in the outer reaches of south-west London. Cheers also, Anna, for spotting the Steve McClaren reference in my Carol Ann Duffy poem - and for a brolly good night.

On business in the area was invited in for tea and poetry Jam. The venue excellent cosy quaint even.
The Compare of the evening did a very good job keeping it interesting and running smoothly. Likewise the poets each in their own way made this a very entertaining event. But the highlight and star who brought the whole event to life as soon as she stepped up to take the platform was a woman called T. She was magnetically mesmerizing both in poetic content, performance and vocally delivery of which stunned the audience into complete and utter silence as they knew before them was someone special in total control of there craft. Poetry event organizers should be seeking this rare and wondrous talent out for performances as she did more for poetry tonight than many event l have attended not just in England but all over the world. l am still reeling from last night.
Dare l say T could easily on just this showing be top billing at poetry Events
Thank-you
Ollie
