Scribblers ahoy!
"This looks interesting. Let's do it." Self-proposed motto of Jacob Bronovski, who presented the first programme in the series 'Ascent of Man' on 5th May 1973. Wasn't that our first year in the Common Market, as the EEC was then called?
"Language is key to unpicking the World", is another saying of the great man.
Now on this day 52 years ago, in 1967, the British-designed satellite Ariel 3, the first to be developed outside the Soviet Union or United States was launched. On this day 89 years ago, in 1930, Amy Johnson was the first woman to fly from England to Australia. On 5th May 2019 the Rochester Sweeps Festival is held (until 7th May).
If none of that grabs you, just bring your scribblings and musical jottings and/or yourself to The Eagle & Chlid pub on High Petergate between 5.30 and 8.30 pm.
No special presentation this time, so it's down to you.
As usual please bring 3 or 4 copies of your work or an excerpt of not more than 2,000 words or four sides of A4 and £2 if you're a wage-earner, otherwise £1.
Looking forward to seeing and earing you and your work. Why not bring a friend?
Wishing you a happy May Bank Holiday weekend.
A friendly wave,
Adrian
