Please join us for the Winter Launch of PN Review, with readings from contributors André Naffis-Sahely, who will read translations of poetry by Mahmoudan Hawad as well as his own work, Jamie Osborn, Suzannah V Evans, Jonathan Catherall, Claudine Toutoungi and Richard Gwyn.

This event is free & refreshments will be served.

Please note that places are very limited due to the nature of the exhibition, The Ground Beneath Your Feet, which is showing at Castlefield Gallery as part of the With One Voice International Arts and Homelessness Summit & Festival.

We would also like to point out that there are works in the show containing the following mushrooms: grey, pink, white and yellow oyster, enoki, lion’s mane, panellus stipticus, reishi, and shaggy inkcap. André Naffis-Sahely is the author of The Promised Land: Poems from Itinerant Life (Penguin UK, 2017). He is currently a Visiting Teaching Fellow at Manchester Met's Writing School and is the poetry editor of Ambit magazine. His translations include over twenty titles of fiction, poetry and nonfiction from French and Italian. His next project, The Heart of a Stranger: An Anthology of Exile Literature (Pushkin Press), will be published next year.

Jamie Osborn is a poet and translator whose work has appeared in Carcanet’s New Poetries VII (April 2018) and in literary magazines including PN Review, the TLS, Poetry London, Blackbox Manifold, Perverse and elsewhere. He is currently working on a series of poems based on experiences volunteering with refugees on the Greek island of Chios. His translations, together with Nineb Lamassu, of poems by Assyrian Iraqi refugees featured in the "Great Flight" issue of Modern Poetry in Translation and he is now a board member of MPT. Suzannah V. Evans is a poet, editor, and critic. She has written for the TLS, PN Review, The London Magazine, Magma, New Welsh Review, The North, The Modernist Review, Brittle Star, and elsewhere, and she is Reviews Editor for The Compass. A selection of her poems was recently longlisted for the 2018 Ivan Juritz Prize for creative responses to modernism, and she is an AHRC-funded PhD researcher at Durham University.

Jonathan Catherall has published poems in Datableed, 3AM, Tears in the Fence, Envoi, Visual Verse, and The Frogmore Papers. He has performed his work at Caplet, Words & Jazz, and in the spontaneous poetry/art collaboration event Erratic Scores; and has reviewed for The Literateur and The Wolf. He works for the Wellcome Trust supporting public engagement with science and is editor of the online poetry magazine Tentacular.

Claudine Toutoungi’s debut collection Smoothie was published in September 2017 by Carcanet. Her poems have appeared in publications including Poetry (Chicago), The Guardian, The Financial Times, PN Review, The Spectator, Magma, The Tangerine, The North, Poems in Which and the anthology New Poetries VI (Carcanet, 2015). She also writes theatre and her play Slipping featured in Manhattan's Lark Studio reading series HotINK and premiered in the UK at the Stephen Joseph Theatre. Her other dramas for Radio 4 include Slipping, Deliverers and The Inheritors.

Richard Gwyn grew up in Breconshire, Wales. Following several years in London, he spent the 1980s in reckless travel, as chronicled in his memoir, The Vagabond’s Breakfast (Wales Book of the Year, 2012). He is the author of three novels, including The Blue Tent (2019), and four collections of poetry, most recently Stowaway (2018). His work as a translator from Spanish includes the anthology The Other Tiger: Recent Poetry from Latin America (2016). He is Professor of Creative Writing at Cardiff University and the author of Ricardo Blanco’s Blog.
