Poetry & Music night!

Robert de Born is a poet and musician based in Sheffield. He writes mostly symbolist and travelogue poems which have appeared online and in print. He has performed his poetry across South Yorkshire and further afield. He plays a mixture of traditional songs and original instrumental pieces inspired by musicians such as John Fahey and Pierre Bensusan on ukulele, 6 and 12 string guitar and occasionally other instruments.

Ian Whiteley is a ROCK! performance poet from Wigan (originally from Wakefield) and is also part of the performance group Bard Company (alongside fellow North West poets Gordon Zola, Jeffarama! And Tony Kinsella).
He has performed at spoken word events across the country and has had 2 collections published by Currock Press.
In addition to the spoken word – he also produces music backings to many of his poems, under the project title ‘The Crows Of Albion’ – these all start out as ‘page’ poems but than have music added (without deconstructing the poetry form) which creates something between a poem and a song.
He has released three CD’s of his solo work in this media format and is close to completing his fourth.
His work covers political topics as well as nostalgia and mystical themes and the backings are used to add atmosphere to the words.
In 2014 he recorded an album of poetry with music telling the story of the first world war from Declaration to Armistice – and he is touring this work in November at a a selection of Armistice events – culminating in a solo show at the Wilfred Owen Festival in Oswestry on Wednesday 7th November.
His website has more information on all aspects of his work: https://www.thecrowsofalbion.com/
