Word Central is an open-mic poetry and spoken word night hosted by Tony Curry, with special guest Alex Slater.
Special guest Alex Slater's fast-paced poetry is laced with humour and charm, from the political to the absurd. One of a troupe of performance poets that make up 'The Potty Mouths', Alex is the co-runner of SPEAK, a diverse Spoken Word night in the heart of Manchester's Northern Quarter driven to bringing poetry to the masses. A multi-slam finalist, his guest credits include Evidently, Just Write, The Kendal Calling Poetry Stage, Punk in Drublic, Rum 100 Festival, and Take Back. He has also supported Gerry Potter on his most recent book launch ‘Accidental Splendour of the Splash’ and The King Blues at the Manchester Academy.
