Poetry Prescribed promote poetry as a healing tool; and an effective way to manage mental health and wellbeing. Hosted by Miss Yankey this workshop promises to be a thought provoking session of reading, speaking, creating and sharing poetry on the subject of mental health.

This event will run in partnership with Mind Over Matter- a project who promote mental health awareness through poetry, spoken word and hip hop. Their next event will be on the 28th January at The Bedford in Balham, where Poetry Prescribed will present a showcase of poetry inspired by our workshops. This is a fantastic opportunity to perform alongside some of the scenes best known poets, and open to all workshop participants. Check out @Mindmatterldn on IG and Twitter to find out more about them.

You do not need to be a poet to join us! At Poetry Prescribed we welcome all writing levels- rest assured no previous writing experience is required to participate. We only ask that you come with an open mind, and be willing to explore your own creative potential in a nurturing and judgement free environment.

Poetry has the ability to inspire thought, expression, and creativity; it can also promote healing and personal growth. Through poetry we can connect to self, others, our communities, and our spirituality.

We look forward to prescribing you poetry!

Recent Reviews:

"I am extremely pleased that I attended the poetry prescribed workshop! I have written poetry for many years but had never had the confidence to share my writing with anyone. I was welcomed by a group of truly lovely and extremely talented people. The workshop helped me find the confidence to share my writing in a very fun exercise which consisted of free writing and blackout poetry. Thank you Esi for holding such a great workshop, I left feeling very inspired and couldn't wait to tell everyone I know! I definitely recommend" - Jade Lauren

"Just wow is what I can say about Esi, she is a wonderful teacher, she was easy to relate to and made the whole workshop fun, inspiring and most importantly welcoming, I instantly felt at ease and as my shyness evaporated my creativity came forth. I was delighted with the poem I produced and would definitely recommend this workshop." - Vanessa Ellen
