Dean Atta hosts an afternoon of open-mic poetry with a headline performance by poet, visual artist and curator Ella Frears. Open mic sign up from 1.45pm.

Ella Frears is a poet, visual artist and curator based in south-east London. She has had poetry published in The Rialto, Poetry London, POEM and the Moth among others. Ella is a trustee and editor for Magma Poetry, was shortlisted for Young Poet Laureate for London 2014 and was a Jerwood/Arvon Mentee 2016/7. She is currently Poet in Residence at Royal Holloway University writing about the Cassini Space Mission and her collaborative installation The Six Pillars of Modernism is showing at Tate St.Ives Oct - Jan 2018. Ella’s debut pamphlet Passivity, Electricity, Acclivity is forthcoming with Goldsmiths Press November 2017.

Dean Atta is a poet from London. His debut collection, I Am Nobody’s Nigger, published by the Westbourne Press, was shortlisted for the Polari First Book Prize. He was named as one of the most influential LGBT people in the UK by the Independent on Sunday Pink List and featured in Out News Global Pride Power List. Dean has performed across the UK and internationally. He is Guest Artistic Director of New Writing South and Writer in Residence with Creative Future, as well as a member of Malika’s Poetry Kitchen and Point Blank Poets. He has been commissioned to write poems for BBC Radio 4, BBC World Service, Dazed & Confused, Keats House, National Portrait Gallery, Tate Britain and Tate Modern. He is currently working on his second collection The Black Flamingo.
