HEADLINER - MATT ABBOTT

Matt Abbott returns to Lincoln, and he's bringing his new show 'Two Little Ducks' with him. From council estates to the Calais Jungle, Matt Abbott uses razor-sharp wit, storytelling and linguistic flair to present this deeply personal and political show. Humorous and harrowing, celebratory and confrontational; a vital poetic journey for 2017.

Native to a city that voted 66% Leave, Abbott uses socio-political commentary and kitchen-sink realism to illuminate and explore the chaos behind Brexit. From the aftermath of the Thatcher years to overnight pie shops and MegaBus marathons, this is poetry for the underdog from one of our leading new voices. A warm, engaging, vital and visceral spoken word experience.

"If you were seriously put off poetry at school, he's the man who might just change your mind" ★★★★★ Broadway Baby

"Explosive poetry with style, heart & honesty" ★★★★ The Wee Review (fka. TVBomb)

"In a world gone mad we sorely need poets like Matt Abbott. A visionary writer & a compelling performer" Salena Godden

"I love this guy. A brilliant performer with lyrical, edgy & moving poems" Francesca Martinez

SUPPORT FROM - Geneviève Walsh

Geneviève is a Yorkshire-raised Londoner and writer of poetry that 'shines an unforgiving light on contemporary life and manners, doing so with words which are full of sometimes shocking honesty' (WF Live).

She has been compère and coordinator of her night Spoken Weird since 2013, and a member of nationally acclaimed spoken word organisation A Firm Of Poets since the same year, with whom she still performs, runs workshops and co-hosts their Saboteur-nominated night, Unity Words.

She released her début solo collection, The Dance of a Thousand Losers, earlier this year, which has been described by Henry Normal as ‘keen and urgent with an untamed beauty - like a puma caught under a streetlight’.
