Still believe autistic people "don't get metaphors"? Think again.
Welcome to an evening of autistic poetry! Enjoy features from 4 fantastic autistic poets. Outspoken activists, geeky polymaths, stereotype smashers and weird wordsmiths Janine, Crake, Fay and Sez will take you on a neuroatypical poetical journey followed by a fantastic set from DJ Dan.

£3 entry or £2 concession (eg, low income, no questions asked just pay what you can afford)

Janine Booth is a Marxist motormouth, who is in the second half of her poetry adventure having ranted in the 1980s and recomposed in 2014. She writes and performs poems funny and serious, formal and random. Janine has had three poetry collections published. Check out her website: www.janinebooth.com

Crake Dakini is an autistic polymath poet. They have multiple degrees in multiple subjects and have been published by Three Drops Press and Picaroon Poetry. Crake regularly performs at spoken word nights in Sheffield, usually alongside Rhubarb the South Yorkshire Poetry Appreciation Dog.

F R Kesby is a poet and storyteller from Leeds. She is a regular on the local open mic scene as well a chairing The Leeds Savage Club, probably Yorkshires oldest (and best) writing group. Her limited run pamphlet 'Let Me Be' sold rapidly earlier this year and her poems have been snapped up by publications such as Picaroon, Laldy and Message in a Bottle. You can find her blog at faykesby.wordpress.com

Sez Thomasin is an autistic, genderqueer poet living in Sheffield. They have written limericks about sex and gender for Kate Bornstein's My New Gender Workbook and have won several poetry slams including Poetstars 2008, Wordlife 2010 & 2016, and the Sheffield Antislam. They were a semi finalist at the 2017 Hammer and Tongue slam. Their book Historical Plans Of How Romans Made Drains is available via Picaroon.

Dan Cookward aka Dman Leeds is spinning some smoothing hip hop and spoken word throughout the night. Leeds born and bred, he's honoured to play at an event very close to his heart.
