Open Mic Event

Allographic has three forms of live event - open mic with occasional featured guests every last Sunday of the month; “Allographic presents...”, a loose series of events with bigger names from the spoken word scene, and a burgeoning set of workshops for aspirant poets, storytellers, and other writers and performers.
So, what’s Allographic Open Mic then? It’s a simple concept really - a lyrical invasion of a lovely bar; a stage, a microphone, a bunch of lovely people, and some words. Entry is free, but we take a donation (i.e. pay as you like). Doors are at 6:30pm and the gig kicks off at 7pm. The venue is fully accessible to wheelchair users.
So - come and show us what you’ve got: step up to the open mic or enjoy the talent on display (ideally both, of course!). Pretty much anything goes, as long as you respect the audience and the ethos of the evening!
Bring your poems, stories, dramatic monologues (or duologues!), improv, hip hop, and anything else that fits the bill of spoken word.
We’ll also be showing off our latest pamphlets and other poetry collections, and telling you about the other lovely spoken word things we know of in the city.
Entry is free but you will have an opportunity to pay what you think the workshop was worth afterwards. Money raised goes towards our costs and to the In Other Words festival, to keep both sets of events as accessible as possible.
