“The Unsung Unplugged”:an acoustic set of poetry & music by Sheffield based poet Genevieve Carver (also on keyboard) with Sarah Sharp (violin/guitar).
You’ve heard of Kurt Cobain. You’ve heard of Jim Morrison. But have you heard of Scott Johnson, or Lina Prokofiev? "The Unsung" is a funeral party for the forgotten fallen heroes of music – not the famous dead rock stars, but the people whose story has never been told. A journey in poetry and sound, "The Unsung" takes you on a whirlwind tour around the world exploring how music has shattered the lives of those who’ve loved it most.
The show has been staged as part of various events programmes including the Ilkley Literature Festival Fringe and in the main programme of Off the Shelf Festival of Words. This performance has been specially adapted for The Purple Room.
