Under the inspiring direction of actor, director and all round man of the theatre, Darren Cheek we will explore a range of techniques to increase your confidence and enhance the way you present a poem or, indeed, anything else you need to read out or enact for an audience.
Topics covered will include
• projecting the voice
• breathing
• commanding the stage
• reading from the page
• memorizing
• using a mic
• engaging the audience
• interpretation
• stresses and operative words
• introducing the poem
Of value to poets, readers, and presenters, this workshop will link to MVP’s annual Poetry Pub, which will be held two days later and give an opportunity to test out those new skills.
