Ash Dickinson and Léanie Kaleido
Friday January 20th 2017
Upstairs at The Dorset Arms, East Grinstead
7.30pm doors / 8pm show

A night of affecting original songs and tub-thumping spoken word from local singer-songwriter Léanie Kaleido, and globe-trotting stand-up poet, Ash Dickinson.

Ash Dickinson is a multiple slam champion (including Edinburgh, Cheltenham and BBC Radio) who has performed in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Jordan, Germany and the Czech Republic. He has headlined shows and festivals throughout the UK, been widely published in newspapers, magazines and anthologies and is in great demand to run poetry workshops. His first collection, 'Slinky Espadrilles', was the first book published by Burning Eye Books. The follow-up, 'Strange Keys', was published in April 2016.

“Brilliantly surreal invention...fabulous poems” - Edinburgh Evening News
"Impressive wordplay" - The Times “Clever and funny” – The Scotsman
"Could do for poetry what Bill Hicks did for comedy" - The Skinny
"Ash Dickinson is a Performance Poet for the Lost Generation. If you haven't seen him, you haven't seen performance poetry" - Federation Of Writers (Scotland)

Singer-songwriter Léanie Kaleido, daughter of former Yardbirds guitarist Top Topham, has been making music most of her life. She spent the 90s in the company of some of the country’s coolest bands and has developed a sound that’s immediately engaging but deceptively dark. Her two albums ('Karamelién' and its follow-up 'Quicksands & Shadows') garnered great reviews in the national music press, receiving radio airplay in the UK and overseas. "Leanie has a curiously English charm that makes you want to buy her flowers. The sweet and charming presentation, however, is merely a veneer for some dark and dryly amusing lyrics on the subjects of life and love." - Bluesbunny Music Reviews

Admission for this night of lyrical luxuriance and poetic prowess is £5 on the door. CDs and books are available on the night.
