Word Life is one of the leading literature organisations in the country. Over the last ten years its been dedicated to showcasing original work to new audiences through a diverse programme of events, projects and publications. To celebrate we've published an anthology of the best writers we've worked with over the years. The book includes the winners of prestigious literary prizes such as Helen Mort and Andrew McMillan alongside International Slam winner Buddy Wakefield and spoken word viral sensation Hollie McNish. Word Life launch their new anthology in London with a selection of writers from the anthology.


**Salena Godden**

Salena Godden has been described as ‘The doyenne of the spoken word scene’ (Ian McMillan, BBC Radio 3’s The Verb); ‘The Mae West madam of the salon’ (The Sunday Times) and as ‘everything the Daily Mail is terrified of’ – Kerrang.
‘Her writing is urgent and detailed, colourful and clamorous. Like all love stories, her memoir is intense, intimate...’ The Times

**Kayo Chingonyi**

Kayo's poems have been published in a range of magazines and anthologies including Poetry Review,Magma, Wasafiri, The Best British Poetry 2011 and 2013. Kayo has also been invited to read from his work at venues and events across the UK and internationally. In 2012 he represented Zambia at Poetry Parnassus, a festival of world poets staged by The Southbank Centre as part of the London 2012 Festival.

**Gevi Carver**

Genevieve Carver has been delighting audiences since 2011 with her straight-talking, gin-fuelled spoken word routine. Her work has appeared in Iota, Envoi, Now Then and The North magazines. She is currently a poet in residence at Bank Street Arts and is touring her show The Unsung with a live band.

**Gav Roberts**

Gav set up ROMP spoken word events in Rotherham and is one of Yorkshires best known performers. He has supported Lemn Sissay, Mike Garry, Buddy Wakefield and Benjamin Zephaniah. His work brings out the beauty, comedy and poignancy in everyday situations told in a unique, honest and instantly recognisable voice. 'Impossible to dislike' – Write Out Loud.

**Joe Kriss**

Joe Kriss is a poet based in Sheffield and the director of WordLife. He has been published in numerous anthologies and magazines and performed at spoken word nights across the country. He has performed at venues such as the Tate Modern, The Roundhouse, National Media Museum and major festivals such as Shambala and BoomTown Festival.
