An evening of poetry in three languages at the Poetry Café, featuring work by Menna Elfyn and Rati Saxena, and poetry in English, Welsh and Hindi. The poets will also be in conversation, discussing each others' work and the process of translation. A truly tri-lingual evening.

About the poets:

Menna Elfyn is an award winning poet and has published thirteen collections of poetry, children's novels, libretti for UK and US composers as well as plays for television and radio. Merch Perygl ( Danger's Daughter),was published by Gomer Press in 2011, and her bilingual volume Murmur, Bloodaxe Books, in autumn 2012. This volume was selected as Poetry Book Society Recommended Translation, the first ever book in Welsh/English to be chosen. Her work has been translated into eighteen languages for which she received an International Foreign Poetry Prize in 2009. She is also Professor of Poetry at University of Wales, Trinity Saint David and recently made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. She is a regular columnist with the national newspaper of Wales since 1994.

Rati Saxena is a poet, translator, editor and Director of Poetry Festivals, plus a vedic scholar. She has 11 collections of poetry in Hindi and English and one each translated into Malayalam, Irish and Italian, and English by other poets. Her work on the Atharvaveda has been published as The Seeds of the Mind a fresh approach to the study of Atharvaveda, under the fellowship of the Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts. She has translated 12 Malayalam works, both prose and poetry, into Hindi and two from Norwegian languages, and has participated in several national seminars and published articles in a number of journals. She secured the Kendriya Sahitya Akademi award for translation for the year 2000. She has been invited to read at many prestigious poetry festivals including the prestigious poetry festival in Medellin (Colombia), Iran's Fajr Poetry Festival, the International Eskisehir Poetry Festival in Turkey and China's Moon Festival. She is one of the three representatives from Asia for World Poetry Movement, which has 37 foundation members around the world and is the only Indian whose poem has been chosen in the popular book in China - 110 modern poems of the world.
