Poesía en Abril featuring Olvido García Valdés and Héctor Carreto
The annual bilingual festival Poesía en Abril returns to the Poetry Foundation for readings by two of its featured poets. Olvido García Valdés is the author of a dozen collections of poetry, as well as books of translation, prose, and art criticism. Winner of Spain’s National Poetry Prize in 2007 for Y todos estábamos vivos, she is co-director of Los Infolios and serves on the editorial board of El signo de gorrión, which she co-founded. Distinguished Mexican poet and translator Héctor Carreto has won the prestigious Luis Cernuda and Aguascalientes National Poetry prizes. A poet and translator from Portuguese into Spanish, Carreto is the author of seven books of poetry and has edited a number of anthologies.
