Those kids that didn't know when to quit, who laughed in the face of the apocalypse (then hid under blanket forts until it went away), Transdimensional Space Goats, are back for another spoken word spectacular in November, bringing you poetry performances so good, they'll temporarily turn you into a brightly coloured member of the Capra genus.

Our headline acts for this month are:

MERIEL MALONE

Meriel is a Yorkshire-based and published Performance Poet. Headlining venues over the past 7 years, described as 'Beautifully Caustic' during her placement as a Poetry Slam Judge for a BBC Competition, rated as 'one of the Top Female Poets in the UK', quoted as performing ‘with wit and poison’ by John Robb in a review of her supporting The Fall at Salford Music Festival 2012 and delivering ‘wicked poetry’ onstage by Salford Online Media Meriel combines song writing with spoken word, using her experience as the Front Woman to deliver edgy, witty Neo Poetry to audiences spanning everyone from Politicians to Punks.

EZEQUIEL COOLBURGER

Like an asteroid in your soup or a quasi-cult pamphlet in your NME Magazine, Ezequiel Coolburger stands out like the sorest of thumbs. A spoken word poet who many know very little about, he’s a 28 year old underwhelmed peace loving decoy, inspired by hip hop luminaries such as Scroobius Pip and Sage Francis through to writers of modern day weirdness such as Bret Easton Ellis and Charlie Brooker. Already with guest performances at “Spoken Weird” and “Spoken Word Shindig” under his belt, Zeke is currently working on a musical project entitled “Initiation... Strike One” due for release in early 2015 via yet to be confirmed thought provoking outlets. He rifles through subject matter such as political disenchantment, youth, crisis of masculinity, the somewhat corrupt pop culture machine, death, depression, unrequited love and carnal urges like a tangent talking madman. Don’t miss his last performance of the year. With special guests and surprises it’s bound to be something different and hopefully will make you want to give him a hug and buy him a Jagerbomb afterwards.

CHARLOTTE HENSON

Charlotte Henson is a poet from Greater Manchester. Her work has appeared in the Morning Star, Rising and others. In 2013 she won the erbacce-press prize. She is working on her pamphlet 'hello fellow sleepless' and collection 'Every Street'. She currently lives in Burnley with more cats than is socially acceptable.

Open mic spaces are available, should you wish to let yourself be taken by the moose. Drop us a message, we're properly nice. Or just turn up.

The event is completely free, starts at 7:30pm and is based in the downstairs lounge of Taurus Bar.

"TSG is inclusive, warm, vibrant and eclectic. It's a pressure-free zone for performers on every level of experience to share their work, and its position at the top of Canal Street is perfect for a night that screams "we're here, we've got beer and our love of verse is severe". If poetry is the new rock n'roll, then TSG is a mix tape which John Peel would have made and played relentlessly." - Geneviève L. Walsh.

"I think it might have been born out of the ashes of Rockworld and the dream of what the village should have been." - Jackie Hagan

Price: £0.00
