A performance of The Footsteps of Water ("The leaping of joy over the fortress of death...") by the late Iranian poet Sohrab Sepehri. An all-female company of actors – Laura Hanna, Mimi Ndiweni, Amelia Grant, Asha Reid & Beth Park will be directed by Hackney Showroom Associate Artist Oliver Dawe in collaboration with composer Josh Spear. In addition to the Sepehri performance, which will be woven throughout the evening, the actors will also explore the idea of joyousness in dissent through a selection of poems which will be staged and set to music.

Introducing the evening, Sophie Fenella will perform an extract from her solo show Everything is Going to be Fine – an autobiographical performance about having a nervous breakdown in an office, blending spoken word poetry with clowning, sound art and movement.
