Thanks for your comments on Ken Dodd's Dad's Dog's Dead. There ought to be more of this culture on here.

Hi there

WOL chat has a few little foibles that can make conversation challenging. I'm guessing from the long silence that you navigated away (there's no turning back sadly)and I was talking to myself (cut & pasted below)... hope it was of some help. You can message me (or any of the admin. team) if you're still having problems

Cx

'a few changes on site yes -

if you got to your profile

on the right hand side you will see your last few poems - you can access any one by clicking on it

the way blogs display has changed

so only your latest blog will show up - but the others are all there

if you go in to your latest blog

you will see underneath

all your previous blogs for the month in blue

we were trying to find a compromise that would suit those who were finding the many blogs difficult to navigate but at the same time not restrict those who like to write more

oh - and chat on here is hopeless so if you've navigated away from this page ... you can't get back and i am now talking to myself'

I'm impressed - I tinker about for ages with mine (poems).
What I was trying to say was that it was funny you should be inspired to write about Pandora weeks after the competition and not during. I was just pulling your leg really - as I'm sure you like to pull mine! x

Tommy - you're on the money with the comment in Stalingrad, the resourcefulness and desperation of the rape victim is supposed to be evoked in the close of this poem. I have not mentioned whether the soldiers perpetrating this particular crime to be of any nationality.

War does things to people that takes away humanity from some people yet strengthens the spirit of humanity in others.

Well, my point has been validated. My London geography is so bad that the place is not even in London. My knowledge of Liverpool is strictly limited to Brookside Close. Pretty shameful considering my Dad lived down there for 5 years or so.

Re "Family" poem. Gordon Bennet! I don't have to make sense do I? ;-) Anyway, thanks for commenting. I guess, Tommy, I was trying to imply (possibly in a Native American animal spirit way - tho the animals are not from there - except eagles) how I would like to choose different characteristics from different creatures, to be my ideal family. I am not a very literal person!

*******BUTTONS EASTER EGG PRIZE GIVING *******
As stated in the small print, I bought an egg and ate it for you. This is my account of eating it!

Ok , if you're sitting comfortably, we'll begin...
First I ran my fingernail around the rim of the box flap, I slowly prised up the lid and slid my hand in to grab hold of the plastic inner....the heat from my fingertips misted it a little...I opened up the plastic to reveal an egg, wrapped in foil, I slowly raised it to my nose to get a whiff of the aroma, caressed the foil and then found the overlap, I teased the foil from the chocolate underneath, revealing it bit by bit, then I could contain myself no longer, pummelled it, kneaded it with frenzied hands till finally..it broke , not into two neat halves but into fragments, each one as chocolatey as the next...then I ate it all...with 2 cups of tea....I gave the buttons away to the kids who were looking at me plaintively as it was corned beef hash for tea and they were sorely disappointed.
That was your Easter Egg, hope you enjoyed it as much as me... I feel thoroughly sick. :)

I think you're going to win the Easter Egg at this rate, it will probably be a Cadbury's Buttons one bought cheap from sainsbury's tomorrow and I will tell you how it tasted! :)

I have read that the moral fibre of the English working class is a world on to itself, an arguable statement, of course, but still very evident in modern English society.

Your 'samples' are marvellous.
