Although i like the poem about the tree,
who really wants to be a table.
I think of my tree of life.

Although i like the sounds of a carpenter,
i wouldn't want to be his wife.
He might make me into a table.

So i thankyou for entertaining me,
but now i really must leave as i'm
in danger of becoming a table.

Or is it just a fable?

Hi Jeff,

You and Janet must have had posh loos. Ours never had a lamp in. I remember the nail on the wall but the newspaper was on the floor. Those were the days.....I'd rather forget. 8-)

Hi Dermot, just want to say i think you did a fantastic job as compere on Thursday at the Tudor. You managed to keep us all entertained with both your own work and your repertoire.
God only knows how you rattled off so many introductions in flowing extracts from their work, but well done. It was a pleasure to meet you and hope to see you again soon.
Lots o love. Janet.xx

Hi Mia, i just want to say congratulations on your play, I (and my friends) thought that it was excellent, very funny and true to life, only nobody likes to say cos they're too embarrassed. I'll put a comment on Darren's review which is a thoroughly deserved tribute!

For your first play (not that you would have known) it was quite excellent. I thought you stuck your neck out with this considering the content, it was (I think) a brave thing to do, well done. I think it worked because it was in poetry, and even though it was down right rude (so no problem for me understanding it!) no-one would have been offended, whens the next one!

It was great to meet you and hope to see you again soon, I'll read some of the snippets from the show again now I've had it live, so to speak! Ha, nice to chat to Tracey and Emma too. If you get chance to look at my stuff I would appreciate your opinion, best wishes Jeffarama! XX

Hiya Jeff, sorry i've not been in touch much recently. Been busy.
Wigan was a great night. It did kick off a bit late though and because it was a dry night, most of the younger end were in the outside area. The poetry can still be heard but it does feel as though they are not as interactive listening to others.
Hope you 've enjoyed your Manchester gigs and Hebden bridge. I am planning on attending the next Howcroft gig so hopefully i'll meet you soon.
Thankyou as always for your lovely comments.

Hi Richard, Thanks for your comments, they really are very much appreciated.
I hadn't heard about the reps in Spain. We were a party of 8 women ranging between the ages of 30 and 55. Each time we went down the strip as it's called, young lads called reps insisted on literally man-handling and scooping us up off the floor in a bid to get us into bars where they got tips for doing it. I blame the tour companies myself. They really should be more responsible when training them up. It wasn't even high season. Everyone complained.

I meant to tell you last time i visited your profile. When i read "The poet and his muse." Just 2 nights before i had a dream very similar to what is written. I was washed up on shore and a man breathed life back into me. I felt it was significant . Though i don't remember him being a poet or writing a poem for me.xx

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for reading more of my poetry and for taking the time to leave a message. It gives my confidence a real boost when I get a positive response. I do not mind criticism though.

My Dad used to play there too. It is a wonderful place. Who would believe there is so much nature so close to Manchester? This Boggart is supposed to pinch our picnics according to the legend. Great place eh? I hope it brought back fond memories.

Hi Richard.

There seems to be a few coincidences on here. I was undecided whether to put this poem on or my 'Stallion Of A Dream'. I went to check blogs after I uploaded and saw that Phil Golding has a great poem that he put on before me, with similarities to both of my poems, crisscross/dream/stallion etc. Antonionionis' '666' next to my 'Theatre Of Hell'. Now you tell me of your uncanny experience. Strange eh?

Thanks for reading my poem. I am so pleased.

Sincerely Shirley

Val, my favourite of yours is Broken Heart. It so acurately, acutely, exactly describes the experience of having one to me. I suspect practically everyone who has ever had their heart broken - especially by a true love - could relate to it.
My second favourite poem of yours above is The Ocean. I love the seas so much and like you am so horrified by what's happening to them. I try not to worry about it. My favourite present-day artist is Christian Reise Lassen. I wonder are you familiar with him - he paints idealised and often fantasy ocean scenes based on the beauty of the Hawai beaches and ocean, especially Maui, where he's lived since childhood. As well as producing the dreamiest and most swoonworthy art, he also is a concerned environmentalist who strives to protect and heal the oceans. (http://www.lassenart.com/)

Hi Gemma. All the above are strong poems you know, but the Grandma one stands out so much for me personally, and I really love it. It's so evocative of a really fun grandma, and also of past eras ideas of glamor that many a grannie would have resonated with, although, not many would have emulated like the inspired and inspiring grandma of the poem. If it's really about your grandma I expect she feels really flattered!!

Hi Michael - like Steve, I have to say, this is wondeful to read.
"And now your silence collects the dark..." Occasionally, a person reads a line and thinks ' I wish I'd written that', well, that's one example. What am I talking about? The whole thing is great from start to finish - and that's the big problem. It finishes! More - more - more...

Good stuff, Michael.

The continuing story of adam and eve gets better with every read. Not entirely sure how it would sound performed. You'll have to post an audio file. (So will I for that matter).

I'm not one for absolutes, but by the time I got to the last three lines I was well hooked into the poem. They really punch their weight those lines, but in a kind of subtle way too - which is really effective and in no way preachy.

Liked it. Give us more, please.

Steve

I just love "the pen," it really is right up my street. In fact, i like all of them very much.
Are you really only 22?
I find that hard to believe, you write as a much older soul would. Maybe there's more to the idea of an older spirit working through you than you think.
Really is good stuff. Pity you don't feel confident enough to perform some of it.
I look forward to reading more. Janet.x

The follow up is already done - it's a film called 'X-rayted' about an amorous Radiographer.
I do like your idea, but I think Morris dancing with sex would be even better - pinning each other up against the pole, using the ribbons for restraint purposes and so on.
