I agree completely re religion. Am reading the bible for the first time in my life (was always atheist, now agnostic, for what its worth), and it keeps striking me how different the stuff that Jesus says in it, to what certain 'Christians' would have you believe. Total eye opener.

Oh, and the reason you won't remember Lot's wife's name is because she is never directly named! How's that for controversial!

Of course - now you explain it... there was the pillar of salt for just turning round to take a peek - now what woman wouldn't do that? I think that was Lot's wife - I don't even remember her name.

I've never used salt to get blood out but I have used it on many a red wine stain... shame on me for not thinking about that!

Salt - big thing in the bible, but I initially put it in there because it's the best thing to get blood out of clothes (cold water and salt - never used it?). It's also a purifier, in essence. Hope that helps :)

Thanks for your comments on Hierarchy of Evil.
To nose it is to lop off the best end gooey bit before anyone else. It's a crime of humongous proportions.
As every gentleman knows (some ladies too!) you should cut along the side of your wedge so everyone gets a bit of the nose.

Marianne, do get 'yer ole guee-tar' out. I would be honoured. I tried song-writing with my own music, but did recognize humdrum when I saw it; it's still a bit of a dream actually. I did a Christmas piece once with the tune in a misty minor key, quite lovely really; it was set to accompaniment by a professional composer, sung at services in different churches, but never published.

Yay - I've found someone who had the same hot water system! I can remember having to stoke the fire real high if I wanted a bath, even in the middle of summer - then some bastard would swan in there and steal your water if you weren't looking! Oh happy days! x

I am outdone! In dirtiness stakes! ;D Heh - naw, your ma sounds like a proper superwoman. We had a coal fire to heat water too - had to pull the 'damper' down to get the water hot, and quite often the water would be stained with rust. that probably didn't help with the tidemarks ;)

Not that I'm looking to outdo you in dirtiness LOL but I think once a week might have been a luxury for me. No-one's fault though. Could you imagine looking after a paralysed husband with a stack of kids, the only means of heating water being a fire and then on top of that having to go out to work? My mum was superwoman - still is. I was very lucky in many ways. Looking back does make you realise how lucky our kids are now though - let's hope they appreciate it.
