Cynthia - ya got me - re: 'evicted', I write quite a bit of horror/science fiction short stories and have had a few successfully published - this was a stab at a poetry version - a wide reaching, epic story in just a few lines. Glad you liked it

Thanks Darren for you lovely comments on my poem 'The Man Next Door'. I never thought I would live to know someone who is truly homeless as I would like to think my door is open to any of my friends or family if they are in need. I have learnt though, that some people can feel so worthless it leaves them unable to grasp a helping hand, even when it's thrust right under their nose. There are too many holes within society's safety nets for these people to fall through.

Hi Martin.
Good on you for taking my comments on your poem 'college years'
as they were meant to be taken-
inclusive of a little leg pulling
without any lecturing.
Look forward to your next piece.x

Morning Andy
Yeh, your joy in writing it really shows through. I've just re-read it (which I hardly ever do due to the sheer number of poems I read!) and it really is a banging piece! I LOVE the 'curving into a maze of bodies' - I love all of it. The imagery is simply outstanding.
It needs publishing this does. Whether in your own book or somewhere else. It's a joy to read :)

thanks Laura for your comment on 'the sermon..' thank you so so much for your praise which has made me blush a little but you are dead right, i am really proud of this one and if all goes to plan will be a feature piece shortly in a means to end pieces as both jeff and petrova love it also.
in the piece itself, it's one of those kind of pieces which has brewing for a few years and i enjoyed writing it big style.
thanks again. see you soon xx

Hi Cynthia
thanks for your comments on college years. This is based on some recent observations when I was travelling on the train to Wigan one morning last autumn. I think the girls were a mixture of natural blonde and the current fashion for not so natural. See you soon at Sale.

Just to say Harry,
Your critique is always very gentle, courteous and kind.
I'm not in the habit of thanking people for a critique as such, as much as them taking the time to make that critique.
We would soon be drawn into thanking people for positive critique and not negative. Quite often it's the latter which helps us as much or even more than the former.
What I'd like to say thanks for is your honest critique and also for you being a gentle, courteous and kind person.
I normally send these things private to people.
But today....Fuck it!
Big public one on your wall to say thanks and I think You're fucking great! (-:

This past week has been very busy. I really look forward to reading more of your work. Unless you have an inexhaustible back-up supply (which you well may do) take care not to post too many all at once; your interested 'audience' may not be able, or choose not to, keep up with your output. And some very good stuff will go unacknowledged.
But I'm definitely coming back for more. I should have been more alert in years past. Or was I?

Thank you for reading my poem and your comment. My poems are written in my native language, Spanish, maybe something gets lost when they are translated. It happens that sometimes they lose some rhythm and it is not an exact interpretation of what I wrote. In this case it is since what I meant was "and silence stunned everything". Thanks once again and admit that you comment is valid.

thanks for the kind comments on 'redemption' Martin - yes, it's definitely a contender as a performance piece - I'm also earmarking it to record with a 'chick-a-boom' type backing in the spirit of Johnny Cash - at some point in the not too distant future - cheers - Ian

I hope you will find that WOL is a useful, friendly and supportive community and that you enjoy all the facilities it has to offer.

Hi Cynthia
Far from being and 'encroachment' your insightful comments are as ever an encouragement. You seem to really 'get' my poems - which is not always the case with others! I'm at my mother's at the moment and asked her how come she had those books. I think she was just a victim of a 'hard sell'! They've long gone now , but I wouldn't actually mind reading them now as a 'grown up'.
