Pretty much identical to my own streets Helen, although I was a good few years in front of you. I remember the streaks of blood along the carpet from the jukebox to the door in Maggie's, every Friday night.
Violence WAS normal to us. Everyone we knew was violent. I didn't question it until I ended up in court for it, pregnant at the time too.
Out of all the people I grew up with, I am the only one with a proper job, and a decent state of health, although getting this far was pretty amazing, given the journey! This poem chimes great big bells with me, as you may have guessed it would.

Really good poem, Helen. I have never been to Glasgow but from your portrayal alone I can picture the scenes. Well done.
