Thankyou David for your thoughts. I did think hard about that slitting throats reference. But decided that language and imagery “in the moment” (1930’s/40’s Italy) would have been more violent than our current fragile sensibilities

Hi John,

a couple of months ago all I was listening to was "Belle Ciao" largely provoked by the amount of right wing vitriol that was being spouted around that time (and still is being)

It is unfortunate that the communists then tore themselves apart (as "reds" often do) but a man has to choose a side doesn't he.

As for slitting throats, what a shame we've ever felt the need.
