Thank you for your kind comments Graham, Greg, Steve, Martin and Uilleam, and thanks to everyone who liked this poem.
It's sad that so many Americans saw fit to vote for a convicted criminal who has plumbed the depths of indecency in this campaign. We seem to be entering an age of darkness in so many parts of the world and we need leaders who can push back and articulate hope and fairness in the future. But who will they be?

'The time of swine' is a great line, and so apposite, considering the 14yrs we just come through, to say nothing of the crap engulfing Europe. And the least said about the US right now, the better. America chased its hubris through the latter half of the 20thC, to the detriment of us all, and now their nemesis has arrived. We can only hope that, whatever the orange chimpanzee does over the next 4yrs, its impact on the rest of the world will be minimal, though based on past experience that may be a forlorn hope.
