Thank you Stephen and Carlton, I was thinking about her while out on a run in the woods this morning. She loved the outdoors & was really in her element in the garden - her husband is not a gardener, so he’s going to need advice, she didn’t even let him mow the grass, but that’s probably a subject for another poem…!

Thank you Graham, that’s kind of you to say so - it has really helped to write it and it’s certainly very “Carole”, she loved a poem and a laugh. She taught in a C of E Primary school in Fallowfield for 20+ years & generations of kids will remember her - she really made a difference. I don’t know if you know Mike Garry’s poem “Signify”. I read it to her recently as it could almost have been written about her.
