Thanks Lisa,
Realising that I'm not 'really' in control (as much as I try) ... reflected in watching the joy that a cool 'watermelon skin' on a hot day brings, deep in the sentient eyes of that little pig at the beach. Quickly followed by the knowing grunt and direct eye contact of this little guy to request, quite politely, the other one! When i had finished, of course!?
It was the look, and wonderful connection of another soul in this universe and I am grateful for that!!!
Thank you for reminding me of him c

Thank you for your perfect timing!!?
At times we forget that our angels are all around us. Most often when we need them the most.
As your previous poem has reminded me, we need to feel their absence, before we welcome their 'gifts'.

Thank you Mark, Cathy and Just me. I agree Mark, chance/luck/happenstance/fate/providence/God's will (call it what you like) too often blights human lives. Also, the accident of birth, and our genetic inheritance, are also a matter of chance which some very stupid people take credit for, when the cards happen to fall their way.

A neat analogy. I remember as a schoolboy seeking the autograph
of an admired English teacher and she obliged by penning a short
poem "The Value of a Smile" into my proffered book..I still recall her
name: Miss Tarry. She knew enough not to hurry her written words of wisdom when asked..

Rhyme time,
Space between lines
Fill them later
Read between lines
Goofy tales, spooky
Rehab renovations
New block under construction
Beautiful day
Keep your mind awake
Spill more words
Build more somersault poetry
Keep writing
Divinely healthy

Jake,
What an incredible poem. You capture well the erratic nature of sleep and the world of dreams. Each line comes off the page like a bullet and each one worthy of study. I particularly like the line "Tunnel down to the warm Superhighways of secrets".
Thank you for this
keith

The lottery - often cruel and unfair - of living this human existence.
is well put, wih some lines that stay in the mind. To which i add.....
Life is a frail and passing thing
To which, like love and hope, we cling.
When healthy we barely spare a thought
For that which fate and fortune has brought;
But all things must come to an end
And our pleasure must be in the spend. ?

Will posy prose make it a crime
To use the brain to create rhyme -
Creating charges aimed to stick
And see you sitting in the nick?
Meanwhile, you can take yourself to bed
And lay to rest your busy head! ?

Tut-tut...how could you be so thoughtless as to be less than perfect?
As the Bard wrote (well - almost) ?...
Parting can be such sweet sorrow
Save my blood pressure until it be a distant morrow.

Speaking for myself, I said "pre-diabetes"...the prelude (with suitable
medical warning) that too much sugar is the problem. I have a sister
who has suffered the type 2 arrival late in life and it has affected her
in other intrusive and unwanted ways that have caused problems
ever since. I believe a sedentary/till job (now retired) in a major food outlet - with tempting discounts to staff on food not sold on any given
day - was the trigger to the weight gain that seemed to herald its
appearance. No wonder the alarm bells are ringing in a certain
large country in which it can now be said that no longer are people
living off the fat of the land,, but that the fat are dying off the land !

Thanks, Keith. Yes, exactly. Also, something innate in us all wants/needs to possess something/someone.

Jon,
This poem came like a bolt out of the blue as I have often pondered on national boundaries and their significance. They are nothing other than what men draw on maps to delineate territory in order to satisfy gain in one way or another. Yet these separating boundaries do little to alter our innate desire for conquest and brutality, using any excuse. An excellent poem as it provokes some serious thought.
Well done
Thanks
Keith
