I agree with Ann's sentiments, you go further into rather than violently look for a desperate escape as in Plath's "Burning the letters". Both I like. Very touching. well done.

Are you happy with this now John? I hope so. I think it's really good. Some of the images are beautiful indeed. The last three lines make it quite haunting, there's almost a sense of horror as if something like incest has taken place. Just my interpretation here. xx

Lots to praise in this and should perform well. I particularly liked the ending in which the lost lover's attention to detail is only brought into focus by your own attention to detail. A nice touch that works well on the page, and would also finish a performance effectively

Yes - I like the line Janet liked, in particular - the idea that someone can be encapsulated in a smell of a perfume bottle. I like the way you manage to also express the missed eroticism of that person - very your style.

Ann, a lovely idea that I felt was all mixed up. At times it seemed that it was listing eras and items etc.
For me a closer correlation between the what and the when would have made it more powerful. Super idea though.

I loved this the first time i read it. To be completely honest i preferred the first version of lay out though.
I enjoyed the flitting words like a robin flitting from tree to shrub and back to tree. Lovely.x
