Walls

I talk to a wall

When too many words

Escape from my trembling lips

When my thoughts once again

Destroy the best of me

And the best of you, it seems

And so I talk to a wall,

A wall of bricks stacked up

To keep out the frigid cold

But the cold remains inside;

A wall of sandbags piled high

To stop the raging waters,

But instead

We drown.
