Tomorrow is the day the country’s asked to vote
Friends, Romans, countrymen, all the common folk
All the lorded gentry, the rich and mega rich
Lend me your ears, the paupers in a ditch
Your home is your castle, rented, mortgaged, bought
Its time for you to vote. Cos. people say you ought
Soldiers have fought battles, millions lost their life
Since time immemorial to end our country’s strife
Kings and Queens have ruled us, and kept the status quo
Now it’s time for us to get, our, *Quid pro quo.
*Something that is given to you or done for you in return for something you have given to or done for someone else.
Let’s be brutally honest, in politics nobody does something for nothing: there's always a quid pro quo involved.
So, what is my quatrain about? What are we expecting, hoping to get in return for our hard work, our efforts in helping the sick, the ill, the wounded, the suffers from mental torment and anguish.
The veterans of wars who are left suffering, weeks, months, years, decades... lifetimes even.
The first responders, the emergency services, the police, fire brigade, ambulance services, coast guards, life boat men etc. etc. etc.
The factory workers, the farmers, the fishermen. The list is never ending and ever growing.
Without us! There would be NOTHING!
Who you decide to vote for on the 12/12/19 is a matter of personnel preference.
Vote or don’t vote, the choice is your free choice to make. You may, like me, wish there was a ‘none of the above,’ box to tick.
However, then we really would have NOTHING!
No borders to protect, no homes to protect, no food on our tables, no electricity, no mobile phones, no computers NOTHING.
Then we would literally go back to the stone age.
We live in a very fragile environment; I am not referring to the climate here.
The elite could not survive without us slaves. Make no mistake, ultimately, we are all slaves to the system. We all have a master to serve.
If reading this has made you feel despondent, please don’t despair.
Our time is coming. Not tomorrow, not next week, nor next year.
Our fate is always in the balance. When enough souls choose the right path, the right side, the balance will tip in the favour of the common man. The righteous, the true, the empath.
Then we will become the masters of our own fate and destiny. Truly a free soul.
Until then, live your life in service to others, whenever and wherever you are able.
Be kind, be thoughtful, be tolerate, and remember, a smile is worth a thousand empty promises.
