Ronnie detests getting wet

so he doesn't go out in the rain

He's afraid there's a chance he'll dissolve

and trickle away down the drain

So he hunkers down in his house

guaranteed to stay warm and dry

and won't put one foot outside

if he spots just one cloud in the sky

But unable to use his car

whilst awaiting a fanbelt today

he ventured out in the rain

and unfortunately melted away

Thanks John. There are eight of us, all retired/ early retired, who meet up a couple of times a week for an activity - snooker, bowls, cycling, golf etc. We all slipped very easily from work to retirement.

Ronnie is a bit of a character who has been featured in a few of my poems.

Thanks for the likes Joshua and Dorothy.

It was obviously the bus that Ronnie disliked as he came to golf today in the wet in his car.

Poem inspired by this email from my friend Ronnie

"Hi all, decided to give Rileys a miss today. As I will have to catch the bus I imagine I will get wet (don't like rain)."
