Settling in to choices

The poison dripping through

The want anointed with restless

Lower feelings true

Burning with all the meanings

Arranged by three to few

What world climbs from the cliffside

To wash what shores can show

Years fleeing,  fearing backwards

And all hollers falling free

What memory do I want

Can I keep and stick with me

Wood burning stove

And grinds in my coffee

Cool turning to cold

And quilts smelling clean

Curled with the pages

Crackling with the scene

Always far enough

Means or hours spent

But the cherry faces

The familiar light to spend

Basket for the bacon

Kindling for the fire

Crackling voices echo

Cards flutter in my hands

The bitterness is hollow

I lay it aside with my plans

Nothing can compare to this

Nothing to your grin

What bitter fruits we swallow

Make us stronger to the end

And it is such a minor thing

Right now affirms and bends

So that it is our hammock

Hanging safe and free

Finishing my drink

Keeping safe my soul

So strange and all familiar

Love and all we mean

The quick decades in the simmer

And all our heart all seen
