Winters uncontested Minstrel

entry picture

With Snow falling

at this time of year

mornings whitely declare themselves

with a glare.

Everywhere is Jack Frosted.

Yawning early morning risers exhaling misted breaths.

The glitterings of suspended icicles

bejewel whatever and wherever they can

and all movement is slowed.

On his icy stage the charcoaled singer.

How honey toned, melodically and opening his golden-like beak

he lyricises upon the chilled air,

epitomises just one of natures beautiful sounds.

With hops, leaps, flittering, see him,

seeking what sparse sustenance there is about in these lean times

or hear him warbling topmost in snow dressed trees

sharing his learned repertoire freely.

A much loved heartwarming Ambassador of the bird world.

Such a lovely piece of advice Patricia and Stefan, I can't thank you enough. Hope I can return the favour at some point in time. Thank you. Jemima.

Fabulous imagery JJ! as well as so many really beautiful lines.

but, may we make a suggestion by offering this change you could make to the second line, last stanza-

-seeking what sparse sustenance there is about in these lean times?

P&S xx
