ABOUT A GIRL - for my granddaughter

ANNIE

I knew her once

so long ago

loved her

with pride I watched her grow

and slowly blossom -

and now

she's gone from me

cut from my life

a pale face in an album

a frozen memory

all contact broken

Am I now a total stranger

or would she

by some miracle

half remember

that once we interacted

but all that's changed

my suppporting role erased

my persona rearranged

now  estranged - I am forgotten.

Hi Dorothy
A lovely poem, if very sad , that expresses well the heartbreak which certainly is common to many of us.

Beautiful poem, very sad. Sometimes one is eliminated from a realtionship without quite understanding why - family dynamics can be incomprehensible. One has just to remember the happy times.

Dorothy,

A poem filled with sadness and heartache. I too am estranged from several members of my family including my sister, niece and a few cousins. I cannot imagine what I have done to deserve this or what I can do to bring about reconciliation. There is an impasse, a silence. I cannot afford the time or energy on them. My life is before me and I simply get on with it, yet it does hurt especially not knowing why.

Thank you for this
Keith
