I am love.

entry picture

Like dust, in the brightest moments of your life

you will see me, know I am here, but most of the time

forget that you are surrounded by this great love

until I pile myself onto the surfaces of your life

and obscure the view ~ stop you seeing clearly

for I will blind you with love.

You cannot hide from me and I will not hide from you.

I have stopped searching. I’ve finally found the perfect

place to be and I stand proudly, modestly next to you

today ~ this most special day…

I am content to live and grow in your garden,

even when you move me around, shove me to the side,

or toss me away and turn me into mud with your tears…

I will still be here.  You’ll see me hurrying

as the sunlight streams, to nestle happily again

in the nooks and crannies of your everyday.

Most of the time you won’t notice me ~ I’ll just always be.

As you work, I will lay waiting patiently on polished glass

for you to draw, or write, or whisper a reminder of me.

Mirroring your world ~ constantly reflecting our love.

I won’t ever let you forget our discovery of each other

this astounding bonfire of feelings which ignites

with only a look, or a word, or your amazing touch.

When you move away or brush me from your shoulder

I will find a way to climb back up again,

to be near your heart once more,  to hold you,

to cover you with many, many particles so light,

so soft, so tender, you won’t be able to ignore me

because I want to go where you go and be where you are.

Love makes dust beautiful so I am found in every corner

of your life, all of your rooms, all of your emotions

and all of your actions.  Remember I absolutely exist.

I am on your breath, your clothes, your food.

I am outside, around and in you.  I will multiply

with every puff of kissed air, each gentle breeze

moving over your body, every cloud that shadows

the brilliance of your day, each current of warmth,

every time you touch.

I am here on every surface of your life;

for I will never leave you.

You’ll see so much dust

you’ll want to claim it,

write your name in it

and make me yours forever.

G'day Peter T and David R (nice to 'meet' you), thanks to you both for taking the time to read my words and comment.
I'm not one to get upset when hubby draws a love symbol on the piano, highlighting the gathering dust.... Your wonderful praise is noted and very much appreciated.
Best to you all,

Breathtakingly beautiful - the image of nestling happily "in the nooks and crannies of your everyday" reminds us that, even though temporarily put away or lost, love can be a constant presence beyond the quotidian, ready to be drawn back when needed.

I'm not surprised that people would want to include this piece in their wedding vows - it packs a huge, and honest, emotional punch. Should be anthologized ...

With much admiration

Thank you, Jon, sorry I made you cry but perhaps it was needed - a worthwhile release...

Thanks also to those who've liked the poem

Hi Frances
Wow! I wasn't ready emotionally for this Poem. So beautiful. It touched me and made me cry on this Easter Monday. It was just what I needed after a stressful past couple of weeks.
Great insight.

So sorry for your loss Jason. Thank you, I am pleased I decided to share this now... I hope he finds solace whenever he sees dust around his house.

I've always thought a real love would just be there; not always visible but inevitable... lying in wait for you to take notice, content to lay and pile up if you don't - until you do.

Thanks so much for all the flowers too Jason, Jennifer and Desmond.

This was so poignant to me Frances, thank you so much. We scattered my mother-in-laws ashes on Friday and of course we all carried a little of her away with us, but I couldn't help thinking that this is exactly how my father-in-law felt at the time. Beautifully summarised for me in these words. She was a wonderful woman and he is lost without her.

As I read this piece I can feel the intensity of it far away from the day glo nonsense that has no real feeling. Wonderfully put Frances.
