Any Less (The Ocean)

I love the ocean,

But I don't live at the beach.

I wish that I could -

Stand and watch the sea every evening,

            Walk by the waves,

            Smell the salt water,

            Stare at the sunset.

At the ocean, I am home.

But the mountains are my home as well.

My family, my friends, my career

            Cannot be uprooted,

            Cannot be tossed aside

            Cannot be left behind

For my longing for the sea.

It has been many years since I have seen the ocean;

But I visit often,

In my heart and in my mind.

I know the ocean is still there.

I don't live at the beach,

But I don't love the ocean any less.
