Rest in Peace

You are dead now

You lay in your grave,

asking for prayers

It’s been so long,

but I still remember

That day,

when you played with me

And I couldn’t stop crying...

You are gone

You took a piece of me,

when you left

We never spoke about anything

You never said sorry

Did you care about the damage

you were doing?

I wonder why you never came

In my dreams, to apologize

Ask for forgiveness

You are on the other side

You should know better

Can you see me, here,

still crying...

I will come to your grave

Every year

I will stand above you

Light a candle, and think

And I’ll pray

I’ll pray a good prayer

Hope you rest in peace

Thank you so much, Hannah, so nice to see you around!!!!! 😘

Thank you, Ray

My grandfather was quite a figure. Very intense and difficult to live with. He caused a lot of pain in many people lives... He caused a lot of pain in mine... It's hard to forget.

Writing this poem was difficult.

All the best to you and thank you 😘

There is a dimension to this of forgiveness and the possibility of retrospective peace. A hard thing for some - I often feel in the public arena those departed are not necessarily respected, in fact new unsavoury facts uncovered. Sad really.

You hooked me with your sincerity

Very best to you Anya. Ray

How do you do it?
Your delicate words convey a child like bewilderment - such sadness and such undying love.

I think your grandfather would be touched by your love but would rather see you smile.
