A Farnham Prayer

https://wolfgarwords.com/

On being turned away from a place of worship

Passed the playing children

on through the garden gate,

in haste toward the altar

to pray it's not too late.

But pew on pew is filled with souls

already in Salvation,

I hear the call to other world's

some other congregation.

Hi Rachel,

seeing as you mentioned it here is a copy of the initial piece.

https://wolfgarwords.com/

Passed the children playing
on through the garden gate,
in haste toward the altar
to pray it's not too late.

But pew on pew is filled with souls
already in Salvation,
I must in order join the queue
that snakes to my damnation.

Thank you Rachel,

I wasn't actually rushing there to pray but to do some research on William Cobbett who is buried there.

I was however turned away at the door by a very polite attendent busily seating blue rinsed WI members and Rotary Club looking types.

Gods House eh, focusing on revenue based events....lovely.

David.

I just finished reading your latest post and was contemplating the final lines of this. I should have caught the clever phrasing upon first reading, or at least before the latest edit (
