How many Monks did the Chinese get?

https://wolfgarwords.com

How many Marks for a loaf of bread?

the pre-putsch civilised citizens said

Then later with the ovens stoked up strong

they vapourised outcast’s who didn’t belong

See how one thing leads to the next

how a printing press expands to a text

How a fake news crisis leads to war

how a woman of dignity bends to a whore

How an empire of hope picks up a gun

and batters on its children till the children are done

How leaders and poets come to share the same feast

starting out as saviours then ending up The Beast

Genesis to Revelation the evolution of all lies

as we watch in trepidation through half denying eyes

Questioning and probing all to powerful effect. It has me thinking that instead of the world turning everything is being roasted on a spit, soft underbellies and hard shells all crackling in hell. Great swathe of black humour minus the humour. When looked at dispassionately, there doesn't seem much room for hope in the human wen.

Thought provoking David. History replays itself, but would be good to understand how to break the cycle. It's ironic, we are better informed than ever, but it hasn't necessarily brought about a revolution.

Could it be that no matter what move we make, we're only really putting one more thing out of place? (I hope that won't be mistaken as making light of grief)

..probably another stupid question, but it seems to me we're such hopelessly clumsy animals that we're ultimately doomed to only accelerate disorder--high-minded ideals and all.

Pardon me, please, for going off on my own there--that's often the price I pay for thinking.

Rachel

PS
"Like" seems such a feeble word in response to some things. I hesitate to use it but do so more often than I should because I can't think of much else to say--thankfully my mind is working with me, rather than against me, today.

Disturbing to put it mildly - so chilling.

"then later with the ovens stoked upstrong
they vapourised outcasts who didn't belong"

terrible - terrible words - writing them must have been draining.

thank you for the poem telling it 'like it is'
