Fire gazing

Shimmering under kindling embers glow with fiery promise,

stoked from lazy slumber they crackle into flame.

Beneath the hollow sky a fine white shroud descends,

vapour trails glide eastward as if searchlights of the Gods.

In moments so peaceful I hope the world sleeps on,

the Sun to lose its wings the waking bells to never ring,

while timber fills where once it stood with scented smoke the soul of wood,

to offer back unto the stars the source of all that's never ours.

The source of all that's never ours is eternity.

Thanks Ray,

Good to hear from you.

Busy week for me at present, I'm up in the north later in the week but will be in touch once I'm back.

Thanks for checking in pal.

Thanks Stu,

Still burning through the night, I think it might take us through to Monday if the rain holds off.

Cheers pal,

A lovely meditative piece that draws us in to limitlessness. It's good to see ideas carefully and economically presented. A true spirit glows in my eyes.

Thanks Cynthia,

I have a couple of the same tealight holders, I got them from a Munich Christmas market a few years ago now, really love them.

Embers are mesmeric aren't they?

I feel fire gazing is a primitive activity which takes us all the way back to our human origins. There is something extremely primal about it which lingers in our psyche.

This is lovely.

I was taken by the reference to 'embers'' Seven years ago, at our local Christmas market that draws craft goods from countries worldwide, I found two glass holders for tealights or votives that looked just like embers. German they were. I was so struck with delight that I bought them at once, as though I had found treasure. I use them often. There is something so esoteric about 'embers', like something between 'worlds'. They command thinking.

I enjoyed your description of what inspired this piece almost as much as the poem itself. Beautiful words, imagery, and sound. More. More! ✨👏❤️

This helps me find my peace...I write to keep myself at peace that is my only purpose in writing.

If you are writing in the hope of anything other than survival chances are there is something missing from your soul.

Friends are rarely eclectic or did I mean electric?

Who knows? anyway write for yourself don't seek anything other than the respect of friends...if you have friends you won't be disappointed...persuading people to like you is uncool and just a little bit transparently sad.
