It's all in my head

Many a candle has shed a lonesome tear

At the sound of a quill, on the parchment of despair

Only being witnessed by introspective surmise

Sealed within his cranium, the poets reprise

◄ A stich in time

Thank you Ray

Gothic Mmmm! What a constant source of imagery for us.

I do feel that an image or two adds to the feel at times, as some people aren't that proficient in the land of the imagination... or the image nation as I often call it.

I also think that as many here at WOL have discovered a few sound bites can add to the form.
I might record a few poems to accompany the written word

Often my rhymes need the nor folk accent to actually rhyme :0)

I find this endearing, a sort of gutting of thought, dripping down. Especially, the first two lines stand alone I think.
There's almost a gothic feel to it.

Your name isn't Po. Not if you come from anywhere near Downham Market.
