A Love Left Behind

The elegant patters of rain on my window

Drive me to a call of some love:

Somewhere too listening to them

Wondering where I had hidden myself up,

The withered leaves of fall teaming up with drizzles

Serenading under my room, 24 feet above them –

I’d like to tell them I heard

Else they might be sad I didn’t reciprocate

But I stay inside behind the screens of the curtain,

They are trying their best to cheer me up

From the lost contact with my love,

They play a soft and reaching music in chorus

Thinking if I’d be tracked by the pitch.

But when he reaches my door,

I fear he would still not be able to find me

For the nameplate on my door is abraded since decades,

And the spates of leaves which once gathered

In an orchestra of soft rustles

Will be swept by the winds then
